Important Classroom Info!
Communication
I enjoy having open communication with parents! The best way to contact me is through the Class Dojo App. Another good way to get a hold of me is by emailing [email protected]. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. If you would prefer to call, my room number is (309)427-5409, however, you will have to leave a message during school hours. If you want to make sure I get a message before the end of the day, please call Mrs. Sarver at (309)427-5400. The best way for students to contact me is through Clever Messages or the GoGuardian chat. School Information and Dates Glendale has a monthly newsletter, the Panther PAW, which is on our website www.epd86.org. In it, you will find information about upcoming events and special announcements as well as a reminder about routines we follow at Glendale. There is also a monthly lunch menu. Please be sure to read this on a regular basis. If you do not have access to a computer and would like a copy of the lunch menu or newsletter, please let me know. Updates and important information are also available on our Glendale Wilson Facebook website and Glendale Class Dojo site. Conduct and Effort Sheets ****TBD for 2021-2022 School Year**** I value communication with families, and I aim to have conversations ASAP regarding any issues with conduct or effort. I will also contact you with POSITIVE feedback as well through Dojo. In the past: These will come home daily. Your child is responsible for marking down their daily conduct and effort grade. Please discuss these with your child on a daily basis. This is a great way to immediately see the daily C/E of your child. Positive behavior choices and good effort deserve praise and reinforcement. On the other hand, if there is a problem with conduct and/or effort, I believe it is best to bring that to light as soon as possible. These sheets should be signed on Friday and returned on Monday as a record for students’ overall conduct and effort grade. HERO Folders ****TBD for 2021-2022 School Year**** In the past: Have Everything Ready and Organized Every student at Glendale has received a HERO folder to help them stay organized and to provide a means of communication between school and home. Your child should bring home their HERO folder every day with assignments, notes, completed work, and other important information. Please look at this on a daily basis, discuss the contents with your child, and return it to school each morning. Any assignments with a low grade (D/F) and all assignments that were turned in late should be signed by a parent or guardian and returned back to school. This helps insure communication is taking place between school and home. Also, please note that if the folder needs to be replaced, there will be a $2.00 replacement charge. Absent Work In the case of extended absences, make-up work may go home for completion if it is for skill practice or comprehension enhancement; however, if it will be taken for a grade, it must be completed at school. 5th Grade Homework Schedule Every night, students are required to read independently at home, practice a math skill (homework given daily during math), and complete Words Their Way daily homework. Student homework should only take a maximum of 20 mins at home. Birthdays Birthdays are recognized and “celebrated” during the school day; however, we do not allow treats to be brought in to the classrooms. ***No invitations should be handed out at school unless there is one for everyone in the classroom*** |
